This privacy policy explains how Nuthatch Lane LLC (“Nuthatch Lane,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit nuthatchlane.shop (the “Site”), place an order, or contact us. By using the Site you agree to the practices described here.
We are a small retailer based in Savannah, Georgia, and we sell only to customers in the United States.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Order information: your name, email address, phone number, shipping address and billing address.
- Payment information: card details are entered into and processed by our payment processor, Stripe, Inc. We do not receive or store your full card number or security code. We may receive limited details from Stripe such as the card brand, the last four digits, the expiration date and the billing ZIP code.
- Communications: messages you send us by email, phone or the contact form, and your newsletter sign-up.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring pages and the date and time of your visit, collected through server logs.
- Cookies and local storage: we use your browser's local storage to remember what is in your cart. See “Cookies” below.
- Fraud-prevention data: Stripe may collect device and network information when you check out to detect and prevent fraud.
How we use information
- To process and ship your order, send order confirmations and tracking, and handle returns and refunds.
- To take payment and prevent fraudulent transactions.
- To answer your questions and provide customer support.
- To send the monthly Feeder Report newsletter if you subscribed. Every issue has an unsubscribe link.
- To operate, secure and improve the Site, and to comply with our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Payments and Stripe
All payments on the Site are processed by Stripe, Inc., a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. When you enter card details at checkout, that information is transmitted over an encrypted (TLS) connection and handled by Stripe under its own privacy policy, available at stripe.com/privacy.
Stripe uses the information it collects to process your payment, to verify your identity and to detect fraud, including through its Stripe Radar service. Stripe may act as an independent controller of that information for fraud-prevention and legal-compliance purposes.
We keep a record of your transaction (order number, items, amounts, date and the payment details listed above) for accounting, refund and dispute purposes.
How we share information
We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run the shop, and only as needed for them to do their work:
| Who | Why |
|---|---|
| Stripe, Inc. | Payment processing and fraud prevention |
| Shipping carriers (UPS, USPS, FedEx) | Delivering your order and providing tracking |
| Our web hosting and email providers | Hosting the Site, sending order and newsletter emails |
| Accountants and legal advisors | Bookkeeping, tax filing and legal compliance |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to a lawful request from public authorities, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or transfer of our business.
Cookies and local storage
The Site stores your cart contents in your browser's local storage so they are still there when you come back. This storage never leaves your device and is not used for advertising. Stripe sets cookies during checkout that are strictly necessary for fraud prevention.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can clear local storage and cookies at any time in your browser settings; your cart will be emptied if you do.
Data retention
We keep order records for seven years to meet tax and accounting requirements. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Customer-support messages are kept for up to three years. Server logs are deleted after 90 days.
Security
The Site is served over HTTPS, payment data is handled by Stripe and never touches our servers, and access to order records is limited to the people who fulfill orders. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you and how we use it;
- Request a copy of your personal information;
- Ask us to correct or delete your personal information;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do neither);
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA. Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other states with consumer privacy laws have similar rights.
To make a request, email support@nuthatchlane.shop with the subject line “Privacy request,” or call (912) 920-9747. We will verify your request using the email address on your order and respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
